Look, we're out of Iraq and almost out of Afghanistan. The Military-Industrial Complex obviously needs another quagmire.
Don't be so sure we are out of Afghanistan. There are lots of people trying to make it another colonial outpost of the Empire.
I just looked at the Wikipedias list of the top 100 defense contractors and you're probably right.
