Of all the many 'gaps' Americans have faced over

 the years---the Missile Gap, the Generation Gap,

the Mineshaft Gap, the Enthusiasm Gap, the

Income Gap, and the Gender Gap---none is 
 more ominous than today's Gap Kids Gap.
