Psychology is a complicated thing. When I watch Mr. A-Gun-In-Every-Pot I see pain. I actually think there's a part of him that hates what he's doing. There's no joy on his face. Ever. What makes him a scum bag, among other things, is that he's still doing it.
Is everything a choice, Montag? Looking backward, you would have to believe that everything that's ever happened in your life was the result of your own choice. That's hard---but not impossible---to believe.

Unlike homosexuality, shilling for the merchants of death is a choice.
