With Phil Robertson as White Santa and Sarah Palin as Mrs. Claus, I'm not surprised retail sales are down. Making Christmas a central front in the culture war has turned out to be unprofitable.

I'm a happy war refugee myself. Spent less and proud of it. Mrs. Pillow and I baked and crafted many of our presents this year, and had a great time.

If our grandchildren were still little, Santa Claus would be a bigger deal with us. We can always look forward to great-grandchildren. :)
