He had undergone quadruple-bypass heart surgery, two 

artery-clearing angioplasties, had received a pacemaker, had 

been treated for abnormal heart rhythm twice, and had had 

five heart attacks.  Sainthood, to be honest, had been a trial 

and a tribulation for longer than he cared to remember.
