I was born and raised in Florida. In those days we never had a tornado, and the people (though the age I am now) did not seem crazy to me...maybe I was too young and inexperienced to notice or maybe things have changed that much over the millenia.

I'm sure we had Prayer Ladies in Texas when I was a kid, but I don't remember any. I think the difference is how politics and radical religion have inter-infiltrated each other over the past few decades. It's been bad for both.
