Saturday, October 23, 2010

"My fellow Iraqis, I'm holding a Browning
Hi-Power which George Bush will wrest
one day from my cold, dead hand and put
on display at SMU."

Monday, February 16, 2009

"The lousy economy is now hurting George W. Bush in a pretty
direct way: panhandling has slowed down for his presidential
library at SMU, making it difficult for him to meet the $500
million goal."

"Where do you go to school?"
"SMU."
"Where?"
"Southern Methodist University. You know, the
school with a library built in honor of the most
unpopular President in American history."
"Oh, that SMU."

chosen, along with your assistant, Gapala Yumupingu,

Texas Monthly's Paul Burka doesn't approve of the way the
administration and faculty of SMU's Perkins School of Theology
have expressed their opposition to locating the George Walker
Bush Presidential Library on their campus. He writes:
"The folks at the Perkins School should render unto Caesar:
in this case, the trustees. The decision to accept or reject a
presidential library is not a moral one--and even if it were,
it is not theirs to make." In other words, (1) trustee might
makes right, (2) trustee decisions are nonmoral, like deciding
between an 8 oz. and 6 oz. filet mignon, and (3) you theological
types should stick to your knitting and leave the
decision-making to senior exective types, like me.

Library at Southern Methodist University in 2010, the
world's first 'Don't Think Tank' will be parked out front.
